De ene Anne lost de andere Anne af. Door haar knappe prestaties van de laatste maanden is Anne Tauber de nieuwe Nederlandse nummer één op de UCI-wereldranglijst, een positie die jaren achtereen in het bezit was van Anne Terpstra.

Tauber reed een flinke bak punten bij elkaar in onder meer de Bundesliga (twee keer zevende) en UCI-races in Oostenrijk (twee podiumplekken). Ze klom daardoor al op naar de 25e plek, een positie die ze de laatste weken handhaafde. Terpstra zakte deze periode juist van de 29e naar de 21e plek. De UCI-wereldranglijst wordt bij de vrouwen nog steeds aangevoerd door Jolanda Neff, voor Annika Langvad en Maja Wloszczowska.

Bij de mannen is Hans Becking Nederlands beste. Hij steeg een plekje, van de twintigste naar de negentiende plek. Hij wordt gevolgd door Michiel van der Heijden (48) en Milan Vader (65). Mathieu van der Poel maakte dankzij zijn zege in de BeMC (UCI.S1) een reuzensprong. Hij kllom op van positie 710 naar 206.

Komend weekeinde is de eerste World Cup, in het Tsjechische Nove Mesto. Van der Poel staat daar aan de start. Tauber, nog belofterenner, zal daar haar debuut maken bij de elite-vrouwen.
